Community Service Program through Collaboration between the Department of Pediatrics, Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara, and TP-PKK of Sumatera Utara

Binjai — The Department of Pediatrics, Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FK USU), in collaboration with the Family Welfare Empowerment Organization (TP-PKK) of North Sumatra Province, conducted a community service program aimed at improving public health. The program was held at the Hall of the Binjai City Health Office from October 6 to 8, 2025.

This initiative was organized to support the Zero-Dose and Complete Immunization Programs, with a focus on improving immunization coverage among children. Alongside vaccination services, the initiative also offered Visual Inspection with Acetic Acid (IVA-test) screening as an important measure for early detection and prevention of women’s health issues.

Approximately 190 participants took part in the program, reflecting strong community engagement and awareness of the importance of preventive healthcare. Participants not only received healthcare services but also benefited from health education on immunization, child growth and development monitoring, and strategies to prevent stunting and malnutrition.

Through this collaborative effort, it is expected that the program will strengthen joint actions to reduce the number of zero-dose children, increase complete immunization coverage, and promote healthier, better-nourished future generations.
