Coordination Meeting of the Malaria Diagnosis and Treatment Working Group

The Coordination Meeting of the Malaria Diagnosis and Treatment Working Group was held in Jakarta on 3–4 February 2026 as a strategic forum to discuss updates to national policies on malaria diagnosis and case management in Indonesia.

During the meeting, several revisions to the latest Malaria Pocket Guide were agreed upon, reflecting the implementation of findings from the SCOPE Research. One of the key updates was a revision of the recommended primaquine dosage, increasing from 0.25 mg/kg body weight to 1 mg/kg body weight, in line with the latest scientific evidence. The implementation of this recommendation continues to emphasize the importance of clinical caution, including consideration of G6PD status in accordance with existing guidelines. The revised draft of the guideline has now entered its final stage and will proceed to formal endorsement and dissemination to healthcare workers.

These updates are expected to strengthen service standards, improve diagnostic accuracy, and support more effective and integrated malaria case management across healthcare facilities.
